NOV 3, 2008: KING LY CHEE SHIRT
Our old friend Mian Bao posted a picture of a King Ly Chee shirt
that is making fun of the Burger King logo! hahahaha...I remember
that our friend Paul in Beijing showed us this computer design. But
we all thought it was just a joke...I didn't know that he actually
printed them on to shirts!!! They look pretty damn good! The best
part is "Hardcore is the way" at the bottom!!! Hahahahaha...我们
朋友“面包”昨天晚上放了一图片。。。特好笑的。。。我们这夏天的时候收到了一个很好笑的“荔枝王”的新LOGO。。。是我好朋友PAUL做的。。。他很喜欢拿很出名公司的LOGO改作PUNK或者HARDCORE乐队的logo。。。他这夏天拿了ＢＵＲＧＥＲ KING的logo作“荔枝王”的logo哈哈哈哈。。。特搞笑！！！

Dude...what the hell...Slayer has already released their newest
song from their upcoming new album!!! That is some speedy song
writing man! They just released their latest album like a year or
two ago!!! And I listened to that album last night again "Christ
Illusion" and it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! I forgot how good their
latest album was. Now they've already released a song from their
upcoming NEW album!!!

Also, yesterday I checked out a band online called Higher Giant
and I seriously think this is one of the best pop-punk bands I've
heard in the last few years. The singer is great and the music is so
fresh and new sounding (no breakdowns, no screamy parts, just melody
and good song structure)...我昨天在晚上找到一个POPＰＵＮＫ乐队叫HIGHER

punk/hardcore band...this band is called Transit and I swear they
look like they're 16 years old! hahahahaha...Check them out...这个世界真的有很多特好的新乐队。。。这个乐队叫TRANSIT。。。他们的成员真的像十六七岁！！！

TRANSIT
Okay...this week has been an insanely tiring
week at school...so many goddam meetings. Ridiculous - you can't
even be a real teacher at my school. You can't be because you're
always stuck in meetings - the times you're with your children is
totally marginalized because you have to be in this training or that
training or this meeting and that meeting. I have to admit - this
has been a really frustrating week for me in regards to my school.
At least Friday was a much better day. My lessons felt better - my
Math lesson was INSANELY successful so I ended the week on a super
high note.
Tiring as hell...can't wait to start applying for teaching jobs at
schools soon!!! Next week is my mid-point of my student teaching!!!
:-) It's almost done...A big thank you to all my friends who have
been supporting me through this. It means a lot - it is a very
stressful period, so it's cool to hear friends just say "Don't worry
dude - it's almost over!!! :-)".
OCT 29, 2008: DRUM WORKSHOP LAST NIGHT
That was SUPER fun last night! Jimmy Degrasso is a legendary
"metal" drummer...quite funny because he doesn't consider himself a
"metal" drummer like he said last night because he grew up listening
and playing jazz. It was funny that he was talking about Davide Lee
Roth, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, like they were some local
musicians! hahahahahaha...it was great though - he had a lot of good
things to say that I think A LOT of HK drummers needed to hear. He
talked about how drum solos and going crazy on the drums is NOTHING
- the most important part is to make the other musicians sound good.
That is what he said is the main job of a drummer. How amazing is
that! He also talked about how sometimes certain styles of music
really need you to bang hard, and other styles of music don't need
it, but the key he said is never to be tensed up. Your arms and your
person should always be relaxed when playing drums...
Good speaker...he was funny too which was good... :-)
昨天晚上我去了看这个美国鼓手的表演和教鼓的课。。。特好听。。。他还有很多好东西说。。。很多东西好像是给香港的鼓手听！
哈哈哈哈。。。他说一个鼓手的责任就是让到其他音乐人好听。。。就是说做很厉害的鼓SOLO是没有意思的东西。。。他还有说一个鼓手最需要是很放松自己才可以打的很好。。。
真的好看和听。。。而且他也是很好笑所以真的不错。。。

OCT 24, 2008: WEEK'S OVER!!!
Dude...hellish feeling week!!! This student teaching stuff is
awesome...just solidifies in my heart that I made the right career
decision years ago when I accidentally came back to work in my
school (god - to think that was 6 years ago is crazy!!!).
Anyway...it's great...when I'm done I'm excited to start applying to
schools all over Hong Kong. But the most exciting part will be when
I walk into my OWN classroom and see the name Mr. Farooqi up on the
board or the walls. I can't wait for my kids to be referred to "Oh,
those are Mr. Farooqi's kids!" Can't wait...
Anyway...
I don't know if you guys watched that stupid shit that happened
in Taiwan with that poor official from China. That type of bullshit
makes my blood boil. Forget the fact that the official is from
Mainland China, the guy is 60 something years old! That poor man is
probably a grandfather, has children, has grand kids, and may have
other health-related issues. How good could you feel about yourself
yelling abuses at this man? How good could you feel about yourself
when you pushed this man to the floor! Are you crazy!? What happened
to human decency! Ridiculous...so disgusted by that situation when I
watched it on TV.

Yeah...so what I've been listening to these past few days
这几天我有听这几个乐队和歌手的音乐:
1. Comeback Kid...CD/DVD is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! It's much better
then the recent Hatebreed DVD...so if you want to choose then
DEFINITELY choose the Comeback Kid dvd....他们最新的DVD特好看。。。我觉得是比HATEBREED的新DVD好很多。。。
2. AC/DC...it's amazing...great to hear some straight rock n'
roll...guitar tones are incredible...vocals are always amazing. I'm
surprised that the bass is so low in the mix...but great
album...特好听！！！ 有时候听这样的TRADITIONAL rock N
roll真的非常好。。。吉他录音真的很厉害。。。主唱也是（六十一岁的！！！）。。。BASS是最奇怪因为他的声音不够大声所以有时候真的听不到。。。
3. 方大同 Khalil Fong...this dude RIPS it
up!!! I even played this record as I went to sleep last
night...great music...great vocalist...这个主唱特厉害！！！
他唱歌特好听。。。音乐特好听。。。我昨天晚上是听他的音乐睡觉！！！ 哈哈哈。。。

OCT 20, 2008: BIG DAY
Yo...today's a big day for many reasons...here are some reasons
why YOU should be excited today...今天是一个非常兴奋的日子。。。有几个原因:
1. AC/DC's brand new album is coming out today!!! OH MY GOD!! I
am so excited to buy this album...it's going to be amazing. There
was an article in the English newspaper that says that Brian Johnson
is 61 years old!!! WHAT?!?>!?! And he's still rocking in AC/DC!!!
That's some CRAZY inspiration right there...今天AC/DC会出他们最新的唱片！！！
非常期待下班马上出去买这张CD！！！他们的主唱今年是六十一岁！！！ 很厉害！！！ 六十一岁还有摇滚的心！！！：－）
2. Comeback Kid's DVD THROUGH THE NOISE is coming out today as
well!!! This DVD has footage of their touring all over the world
these past few years (hopefully it has some HK footage - but I don't
know) and has some sort of documentary, and a LIVE Cd as
well...CANNOT WAIT!!! 今天终于可以买他们的ＤＶＤ！这个ＤＶＤ是包括他们这几年巡演的短片。。。可能有香港的短片可是我真的不知道有没有。。。很兴奋买这个。。。
3. It's my good friend Glenn
Bogadorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr's birthday today! He's
getting closer and closer to the big 3-0 hehehehehe...happy birthday
bitch! 今天是我好朋友ＧＬＥＮＮ的生日！越来越老了！ 哈哈哈哈。。。
This is why HK sucks...Motley Crue played in Singapore and
didn't even entertain coming to Hong Kong!!! :-( I mean seriously,
if they came here how many people would've gone? 这个短片是一个很大的证明香港真的是一个很无聊的地方。。。ＭＯＴＬＥＹ CRUE去过星加坡演出可是没有来香港！！！

Holy shit...I don't know if you guys have read all over the
internet...but the new Guns N' Roses album is finally going to be
released on Nov 25! What?!??!?! This thing has been in the recording
stages for over 10 years...I can't believe it's finally actually

OCT 15, 2008: SHORTER DAYS
I love these shorter days that we're having...sunrise is much
later and sunset is much earlier...the reason why I love it is
because I know that winter is around the corner - and winter in Hong
Kong is the best! It gets cold here but not too cold...
Since we're not touring this winter I don't have any plans for
the Christmas break...maybe go back up to Beijing and hang out with
friends...no idea yet...I also don't have any money because of my 3
month student-teaching practicum so I probably should just stay in
HK - but that would be SOOOOOOO boring...
Gotta think about it...
我很喜欢这个时候的天。。。每日日出是在晚一点儿然后sunrise是再早一点。。。一到这个时候我知道冬天差不多到了。。。在香港冬天是最舒服的时候。。。
我们这个冬天没有巡演所以圣诞节的时候我没有事做。。。可能再
上去北京看我的好朋友。。。可是我实习没有钱收所以我这三个月特穷哈哈哈哈。。。所以冬天的时候应该留在香港最好。。。可是留在香港太无聊！！！

OCT 12, 2008: METAL SHOW LAST NIGHT SOOOOOO GOOD!!!
Amazing...last night's show organized by the Hong Kong Extreme
Metal Organization was probably the best heavy music show I have
seen in many many years...我说不到。。。昨天晚上的metal演出是特特特特特厉害！！！
我这几年真的没有看到和感觉到一个那么好看好听的metalshow。。。
The show was organized with what I think are Hong Kong's most
incredible metal bands and then organized by easily the most united
music organizations fighting for the music and culture they believe
in. All the opening Hong Kong bands were incredible: Adversary,
Hyponic, Evocation...oh my god...so fucking good. Every band was
incredible and it was so good to see Hyponic again live in Hong
Kong!! Tommy and Evocation were ON FIRE last night...if you know the
situation with the show last night you'll understand why. Adversary
were INSANE!!! HOLY SHIT!!! ALL HK metal bands need to watch these
guys!!! Holy crap!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! 昨天晚上的演出是香港的metal会叫Hong
Kong Extreme Metal Organization安排的。。。他们这几年安排不少的演出可是他们昨天晚上我觉得一定他们最正的一场。。。他们那么专业的会还有那么多特厉害的本地乐队一起来玩。。。真的特好的感觉。。。hyponic
- 特开心终于再有机会在香港看到他们的表演！！！ 特厉害。。。evocation昨天真的发火！

The best was the organization of the show...a group of people
working together with no petty bullshit between each other. They
were all a bunch of adults acting responsibly and working together
for metal in Hong Kong.
我真的很赏识他们为他们最爱的文化和音乐的努力。。。真的是一般大人一起来为了他们目标工作。。。没有其他bullshit在他们的人中间。。。
It was amazing...特好。。。
Once upon a time we used to have a scene like this...it was a
great time...after last night both Brian and I realized that our
"scene" is dead and buried. Did we actually ever have a united group
of people who believed in something? Who
knows...我还记得我们也很久以前好像也有一个地下的社会。。。可是我们现在证明都没有了。。。可能本来也没有了。。。就是我们以为是一个很团结的社会。。。可是几年前已经证明了原来不是。。。反正大家可以只可以做一个东西
- 做好自己。。。经历了那么多事情我还不会放弃我的目标。。。我对我自己还我自己和hardcore的信念还有相信。。。

I forgot to mention!!! DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU PASS IMMIGRATION AT
THE HANGZHOU AIRPORT TO EAT!!! Before you pass immigration and in
the main area of the airport where you check in there are a BUNCH of
restaurants...cheaper ones where you get food at regular prices. BUT
- once you pass immigration and go wait for your plane, there is
only ONE restaurant and guess how much they charged us for a bowl of
noodles? $70 RMB!!! WHAT?!?!?!?!?! I couldn't believe it! I even
asked the lady "These prices are wrong right?" She said nope...but
Alison and I were so hungry that we ordered anyway...so stupid...
我忘了跟大家说。。。如果你去杭州的话请不等过关先去餐厅吃东西！！！

OCT 8, 2008: BACK IN HK 回來了香港
Yoooooooooooooooooo...back in Hong Kong!!! Pretty fun trip that
Alison and I had...we went to Hangzhou for about 2 full days and
then went on to Wuzhen for one
night...終于回來了。。。這個旅行玩的不錯。。。我們去了杭州兩天然后去了烏鎮一個晚上。。。
What can I say about Hangzhou? For the past few years I kept
hearing that Hangzhou is easily one of the best places to visit in
China (of course, I heard this from someone that is actually FROM
Hangzhou! hahahaha...)...對杭州我可以說什么？這幾年我聽很多人說杭州是中國其中一個最漂亮的城市。。。當然最喜歡說這句子是從杭州來的人。。。哈哈哈。。。
We noticed a few things。。。到了杭州我留意到了這幾個事情:
1. The construction of their infrastructure is much better then
most places in China! 杭州的建造和發展真的不錯！ 比很多其他內地大城市好很多！
2. People are A LOT nicer then I thought they were going to be...the
reason why I thought the people weren't going to be nice was because
Hangzhou is so close to Shanghai and the last time Alison and I
visited Shanghai the people there were SUPER rude...so we didn't
know what to
expect...我真的想不到這里的人會那么好和有禮貌。。。我去杭州以為那里的人會一點儿自大。。。为什么我这样想？因为我跟Alison几年前去了上海的时候见到了很多真的没有什么礼貌的上海人。。。服务？什么服务都没有！（当然这是几年前了。。。现在可能已经不同了！。。。所以如果你是一个上海人看这个网站哪对不起了！！！）
3. My Mandarin was actually better then most Hangzhou and Wuzhen
people we met! WHAT?!??! That was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO weird!
去了杭州和乌镇发觉了一个特奇怪的事情！我说普通话是比很多那边的人说的更好！很奇怪对不对！！！ 我的中文怎么可能比那边的人好？！？！
反正就是很奇怪。。。
4. Hangzhou is actually not that great...nice lake but the lake
reminded me of the Summer Palace in Beijing...so if you've been to
the Summer Palace, there's nothing special about Hangzhou's famous
West
Lake后来我觉得杭州真的没有什么特别。。。他们最出名的地方当然是西湖。。。可是如果你们去过北京的颐和园那杭州的西湖是跟那边一模一样。。。
Wuzhen was a bit better for my taste...but there was NO one
there when we visited! It was like a little ghost village on the
water...totally weird...and kind of creepy at times! hahahahaha...乌镇是比杭州好看。。。我很喜欢这样的古城。。。去到乌镇然后才知道有些建筑是假的:-(
听到真不开心。。。还有我们是国庆节之后的礼拜到乌镇所以没什么人。。。特安静而且有点儿恐怖！哈哈哈哈。。。那么大的地方，那么有感觉的地方没有人只有我们两个人特奇怪。。。晚上这边真的特漂亮。。。我跟Alison以前去过周庄。。。我还觉得周庄是比乌镇漂亮很多。。。而且真很多。。。
Anyway...while we were traveling from Hangzhou to Wuzhen I
suddenly missed my Beijing brothers Paul and Li Yo so I quickly sent
them SMS' and lucky for me they had time to reply and keep me
company for the trip. Paul was in Guilin traveling with the band No
Opinion that's touring China right now. Lucky guys :-(
反正我们从杭州去乌镇的时候突然很想我北京的兄弟Paul和李游所以我马上发了一个短信给他们。。。很幸运他们有空马上回答！
哈哈哈哈。。。Paul当时是在桂林跟德国乐队巡演。。。特幸运他们可以内地巡演 :-(
Anyway...back in HK...it's back to work (thankfully for only 3
days)...I think I'm going to the bandroom with Ho to see what
they've changed there...can't wait to see it! I actually wanted to
go there first when I got off the plane! hahahahaha...反正回来了香港。。。今天下班之后会跟Ho去band房。。。很期待看那里有什么进步！
Before I left I hung out with our pal Joe from Mensheng and he
told us that they're touring Southern China in December! I'm happy
for them because touring will teach them A LOT about being in a
band. Of course, I also felt bad because we SHOULD be and WERE going
to be touring China in December. So again my feelings of anger and
sadness came back when Joe told me about their good
news...我去杭州之前我见到了我们好朋友一个香港乐队叫门生的吉他手Joe。。。他有个好稍息给我听。。。他的乐队十二月将会做一个小小的南方中国巡演！我真的对他的乐队特开心！巡演的时候一个乐队可以学很多东西!我对他开心的时候同时对我们荔枝王也不开心。。。因为十二月我们本来是去内地做一个特大的巡演。。。可惜了。。。anyway。。。

OCT 4, 2008: MIKE'S, BRIAN'S BIRTHDAY, HANGZHOU
Spent a great day yesterday with good friend's, girlfriend, and then
more good friends. Yesterday morning I found my good friend Terence
online on MSN so I figured that he was too sick to go to work. So I
asked him if he wasn't sick enough to watch a movie! So we went out
to go watch Eagle Eye (fun movie!) which turned out to be pretty
good...not as good as Transformers (of course), but still pretty
good!!! I liked it at least...
Then we walked around some more taking photos because he's borrowing
a friend's camera...then we both went over to Mike's restaurant to
say happy birthday and hang out with our favorite Mike...Alison
showed up a little later and then Alison and I went to go eat...
When I came back we waited around for some more friends to show up
to celebrate Mike and Brian's birthday. Jason, Ivan, Franco, Ho, Joe
all showed up later and we started getting Mike drunk...hahahahaha...we
waited like 3 hours for Brian but for some reason he wasn't picking
up his phone all night. So we waited as much as we could for him but
ended up surprising Mike with the cake and just celebrated his
birthday. It was a FUN night hanging out with friends...I've got
lots of photos that I'll hopefully upload soon!!!
I wish everyday could be like that! :-)

OCT 3, 2008: FIXING UP BANDROOM...
These past few days we've been fixing up our horrible bandroom...this
is the room that when Shepherds the Weak come over all they do is
complain about how ugly and disgusting it is. And I TOTALLY agree
with them...there's just too much shit in our room and things aren't
organized or set up properly. FINALLY these past few days we started
redesigning the outside part of our bandroom. After about 2 days
being there until late to fix it up...I'm happy to say that it looks
SO MUCH better!!! There's still WAY MORE to do...but at least going
back to the bandroom feels more and more comfortable. I'm usually
the LAST person to go to our bandroom because I hate it so much. But
now I look forward to going back there because outside of the room
feels a lot more comfortable. It actually feels like a home!!!
That's what all bandrooms should feel like...like someone could live
there because you spend so much damn time there anyway!!!
So the picture that's on our first page is just the door to the
practice part of our room...Brian came up with the great idea to
cover it in Unite Asia stickers (we printed so many of these) so
instead of throwing these stickers away...we decided just to
decorate our room with these stickers...
Good times! :-)
Tomorrow Hangzhou!!!
這幾天我們有留在band房因為我們這個房間真的很難看。。。我們的好朋友香港樂隊shepherds
the weak每次來我們的房間一定會投訴我們那么不干凈的房間。。。他們有說“你們應該讓我們去你們的房間幫你們做好..."
他們真的恨我們的房間。。。可是我同意他們的看法。。。我真的不喜歡我們的房間。。。
Anyway...這幾天我們終于開始了再organize我們的房間。。。我現在可以通知大家。。。花了幾天之后真的可以說我們房間開始有點兒舒服的感覺。。。以前一點都不舒服。。。一個band房應該是跟一個家一樣那么舒服。。。我們從來不是這樣。。。可是這幾天我們真的盡量做的最好。。。還有很多東西需要安排。。。可是起碼現在我很期待上我們band房。。。以前我通常是最后的人上去因為太不舒服。。。現在非常舒服!!!

OCT 2, 2008: CAN'T GO TO MACAU?
I just read online that Mainland residents are only "allowed" to
travel to Macau one time every 3 months. When I read this the first
thing I thought to myself is...when will our brothers and sisters in
Mainland China be given more freedom to at least travel wherever
they want? I cannot imagine what I would do if someone told me
"Sorry - you can't travel to XXX." I would immediately go WHY?! You
tell me why I can't travel wherever I want to travel!
On Saturday this weekend Alison and I are going to Hangzhou and
Suzhou. I'm SO excited to go because I've heard these places are
beyond beautiful. But now I'm thinking what if the HK government
said "Sorry you can't go". Oh my god - I'd kill someone!
hahahahahahaha...
我剛才在另外一個新聞的網站看到一個稍息。。。他們說現在每三個月內地的同胞之能去澳門一次。。。我一看這個稍息我真的覺得好奇怪。。。我自己想我們的內地兄弟姐妹什么時候可以享受多點自由。。。起碼可以享受流行的自由。。。如果有人跟我說我這個地方不能去那個地方不能去我一定會瘋了。。。
這個禮拜六我跟Alison將會去杭州和蘇州。。。我很興奮因為我聽人說這兩個地方特漂亮。可是如果有人跟我說我不能去我會有什么感覺？反正我可以去。。。很期待這個流行。。。非常喜歡在內地去看別的地方。。。
在蘇州我們會留在烏鎮這個地方。。。有人說是特漂亮而且也有人說這個地方太商業了。。。可是我們以前去過周莊。。。我們特喜歡了周莊這樣的地方所以應該會享受烏鎮。。。

SEPT 29, 2008: SHOW LAST NIGHT
I think the show that we (Start From Scratch Records) helped
organize (just making it clear that we weren't the organizers - it
was organized by the Warehouse we just helped find the bands) was
probably one of the best shows we've ever helped in terms of quality
of bands. We had altogether 4 bands/artists perform: Justice League
(hip-hop), Attention to Piss, Audio Traffic, and Hardpack helped us
out by getting on stage without even practicing to be the 4th band
to play because one of the 4 bands we confirmed canceled last
minute.
Right from Justice League - we
could tell that the quality and standard of tonight's musicians was
going to be amazing. Justice League is an amazing local group of
hip-hop dudes who are AMAZING...if you haven't heard them then go to

Masta Mic got on freestyle rapped and he was INSANE!!! So good...he
just asked for people to give him any prop and he started rapping
about that prop! CHI SIN!!! Masta Mic was such a nice dude...I kept
apologizing about the turnout (there was seriously only like 40
people) but he kept saying not to worry! He got on stage and KILLED
it...
Attention to Piss came on and once again proved to the world that it
doesn't matter how long you've been playing music, sometimes people
who are good songwriters just ARE good songwriters regardless of how
long they've been playing. They played only new songs last night and
they're incredible...better then all their old stuff combined! They
were so good...
While Attention to Piss was
playing all of a sudden Kevin of Hardpack asked if it was okay for
them to get on stage since all of Hardpack's members were here
anyway! So I asked Warehouse's Cathy and she said sure! So Hardpack
got on stage and played 4 songs!!! Without any practice or
discussion...that was amazing!!!
Then came the kings of the night Audio Traffic...they really showed
what a "professional" band should be like. They were tight,
incredibly well rehearsed, super nice, and had a good time even
though they were tired as hell and even though there was only like
40 people in the audience. Their drummer Ferdie even had to miss out
his daughter's birthday to play this show! NOW THAT'S CALLED
DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT.
It was a great night of bands...too bad the show wasn't promoted well because it would've been a great show for the general public to attend to see just how great HK bands can be.
After a terrible week last
week where I realized a lot of things, it was nice to end the week
with a good show watching REAL bands with REAL musicians who love
and commit their lives and hearts to the music/band they play in.
SEPT 25, 2008: TOUR CANCELLED 取消巡演
对不起大家...我也不知道怎么样通知大家这个不好的稍息...
我们需要取消我们十二月的巡演...原因是我们其中一个成员最近开始了新工作所以他突然不能请假...
写这个稍息的时候真的很难受因为我自己等了很多年终于有这个机会上去内地巡演...我们八月底确定了这个巡演之后我每天真的特兴奋...我每天跟我们内地的经理
(Paul) 开始了很多计划...特开心的计划...突然什么都没有了...全部计划要取消...
这几年我们从很多内地的城市收到不少的email.
他们很希望一天可以看到我们的表演...我真的以为终于有机会可以见面然后谈谈中国hardcore的发展.
反正现在希望你们会继续支持我们...我也很希望一天我们真的可以上去做一个特大的巡演...
还有我们已经确定了机场演出...现在Paul需要通知他们我们的情况...我很窘迫...希望这机个场地的经理会继续支持我们...因为我还希望我们一天真的有机会上来...
最辛苦是我觉得我浪费了我们的特好兄弟Paul的时间,
热情和努力...对不起my

I'm in an embarrassing
position to announce to everyone that we have to cancel our upcoming
December tour of China. One of our band members recently accepted a
new job and is so no longer able to take those days off to tour. The
most humiliating part is that we've already been announcing the
confirmed dates and we've been receiving emails from our supporters
throughout China who are so excited that we're finally coming
up...especially since the last time we went up was 2000...Now we
can't come up...
We confirmed that we were going to tour in August and so everyday I
would come up with awesome little ideas for this tour with our
brother Paul (our China manager). We would come up with this and
that...and now all of a sudden all of those plans are over. Paul now
has the embarrassing task to inform these venues that we can't come
up. I hope these venues aren't going to "blacklist" us or anything
like that - I do hope someday we can come up.
The worst feeling is that I feel like I've wasted my brother Paul's
time, energy and passion. He's even more passionate about King Ly
Chee and King Ly Chee's future then I am! He sees a future for us
that few people see...
Anyway...sorry Paul, and to everyone that was helping us with this
tour...we hope someday we can actually do a real tour.

SEPT 22, 2008: LEHMAN BROTHERS雷曼兄弟完全失败...
I think this Lehman Brothers debacle/fiasco whatever you want to
call it is a wake up call to all those people who just work, work,
work, work, and do more work. These people spend hours upon hours at
their office during the week, then on the weekends, all with the
hopes and dreams that one day they can stop working and live off of
all their hard work and retirement.
But just like that, all these people who have worked thousands of hours at their meaningless jobs selling/buying meaningless things at banks like Lehman Brothers, etc., have had all their money, savings and retirements disappear just like that.
For those of you who live your
life solely around your job, office, and work...I hope this Lehman
Brothers fiasco is a WAKE UP CALL for all of you! WAKE UP - life is
not about making money, it should never be solely about making
money. In the end of the day, all that money is going to disappear.
And what memory will you have? Your only memory is that you stayed
in your office for thousands of hours upon hours upon hours. While
the rest of us have toured all over Asia playing music, meeting
friends all over the world...
THINK ABOUT IT!
我觉得这个雷曼兄弟完全失败的情况应该可以wake
up 很多人!!!
看到这个那么舊和大的银行公司可以这样失败还有突然所有钱都没有了应该可以让大家明白钱和追钱是完全没有意义的事情.
你看在这样的公司工作的人每天可以二十四小时工作.
为了什么 ？为了钱 ？为了一天可以退休?
可是如果突然你没有钱你会不会那么努力工作呢?
你那么努力在工作为了老的时候可以退休有什么意思呢 ？你老的时候真的可以做什么?
你还有能力出巡演吗 ？可是如果你们是跟这间公司的人一样突然什么钱都没有了 -
你会不会有后悔吗? 如果你这样每天工作做到天光然后突然什么都没有了,
你会有什么回忆? 可能只有一个回忆
- 每天在办公室睡觉, 工作,
做到笨蛋一样...
我很希望这个情况可以让多人想一想对他们的生活什么东西是最重要的。
花多时间跟你们家人一起和你的爱人一起应该是更重要...如果多人反而会花时间追他们的梦想这个世界会不会再开心一点儿的地方吗

SEPT 20, 2008: WAKING UP AT 3:30pm
Dude...waking up at 3:30pm
must be a sign of just how tired I get from work and all the extra
stuff I do after school to make some more money to stay alive. It
sucks...I slept the entire day away today...
I'm fasting today so that's another reason why I just want to stay
in bed...
Anyway...our old friend Hala (ex-Qiu Hong guitar player) now lives
in Beijing and she emailed me yesterday to ask if her husband's band
The Falling can play with us when we arrive in Beijing on our tour!
That's so cool that bands want to play with us on this tour!!! Hala
is also very interesting because I've actually been friends with her
WAY BEFORE Qiu Hong started...I remember her old band called Bra
which I interviewed a long time ago fo rmy old zine etc...cool girl
and I'm happy she's found happiness up in a great city like

SEPT 19, 2008: LONG WEEK!!!
Oh my god...what an insanely long week! My work day starts at 7:15am
every morning...and everyday this week I have had to do tutoring and
teaching guitar after school. Then on Thursday (last night) we had
the "back to school" night at our school so we were in school until
8:15pm...oh my god...I am frickin' exhausted right now dude...这个礼拜太累了...我每天七点十五分钟上班
。。。然后这个礼拜每天下班之后还有做辅导然后教吉他...昨天晚上我们还有这个很特别的节目在我们的学校...所以我们上班上到八点十五分钟...SUCKS...
Anyway...I officially start my
student teaching tomorrow. I'm excited about it but I'm also
insanely tired right now so I just want to sleep.
今天我正式开始我的实际...我是很兴奋可是现在打这个稍息的时候累死了...
My student teaching starts tomorrow which officially means starting
tomorrow Sept 19 to Dec 19 I will not be getting a salary. :-(
That's 3 months without money man...not excited about
that...今天开始实际的意思也是我从今天开始到十二月十九号我没有薪水...这几个月一定非常幸苦了...香港没有钱的话一定可以死了....
Okay...I HAVE to get to sleep...tomorrow's ANOTHER long night...we
have a school party right after school gets out. I have a feeling
I'm going to just want to go home...
SEPT 17, 2008: PARALYMPICS
Is it just me or are you also proud of all our Paralympic
athletes!!! Our able-bodied HK athletes weren't able to win any gold
medals - but our paralympic HK athletes have been winning gold
medals left and right!!! How incredible is that!??!?! It's
amazing...as a Hong Kong-er I am SUPER proud every time I see more
results of them winning...
I just hope when they return to HK that the government takes care of
their needs by sponsoring training, maybe building more facilities
for them for training and so they can focus on their obvious gift!!!
我不知道你们有什么感觉...可是我每天看到香港的运动员在傷殘奧運再赢了金牌我真的对他们非常proud!!!
我就希望他们回来 的时候我们这边的政府会开始支持他们的training...可以帮他们建造多好的运动场为他们的好好的training...真的太明显他们这个能力是天生的!!!

SEPT 16, 2008: DAMN! WHAT A DAY YESTERDAY!
Within 24 hours of posting the message about us not having a bass
player - we were able to get one phone call from someone who is
interested in trying out to be our bass player AND Brian was able to
find a friend who can at least help us play the China tour! WHAT THE
HELL!??!?! Yes, there are times where there really is some sort of
light at the end of the tunnel.
没过二十四小时我们已经收到了一个人有兴趣做我们新bass手的电话...还有Brian找到了一位好朋友会帮我们巡演!!!
真的有时候我们是几幸运的人...

Last night we went out to Ned Kelly's (that live jazz bar in Tsim
Sha Tsui) and were able to relax to some awesome music...great
musicians and they had a female jazz singer that was awesome
too...the fat white guy wasn't there though! :-( He is the FUNNIEST
dude!!! Great singer, great stage presence etc...昨天晚上我,
Brian, 和阿文去了Ned Kelly's酒吧听他们jazz乐队...这个酒吧是在尖沙咀...当然对我来说是很方便因为我也住在尖沙咀!
hahahahaha...可是他们这里的音乐非常好听...我各人很喜欢听jazz而且他们的音乐人真的很厉害!
Yesterday I also found out that our Wuhan show is going to be
organized by my OLD friend Wu Wei (singer of one of China's other
great punk bands SMZB!!!). I haven't seen this guy in 5 or 6 years
man!!! I can't wait to see him again! The last time we played in
Wuhan he came to the airport to pick us up, and we stayed at his
house for like 4 days! :-) Good old days...昨天才知道我们武汉的演出是我老友Wu
Wei (生命之饼的主唱)安排的!!!
oh my god...特久没见过他!!!

SEPT 15, 2008: 对不起大家!!! SORRY EVERYONE!
I bought a brand new computer last week with my friend Chai and
when I brought it home I found all my old software files EXCEPT for
Frontpage! Pok Kai! I only know how to use Frontpage to update our
website...I have Dreamweaver and I tried my best to learn it last
week but that program is SOOOOOOOOOO damn hard! Chi sin!!! SUPER
HARD!!! 我上个礼拜买了新电脑.
我回家的时候找到我所有的软体除非我Frontpage的软体!!!
我只知道怎么用Frontpage update我们这个网站所以我上个礼拜不会update这个网站!!!!
Sucks!!!

GOOD NEWS好稍息:
1. Paul has confirmed our Beijing show of the December China tour!!!
The show will take place at MAO and is scheduled for Dec 23rd!!!
WOOHOO!!! Paul已经确定了我们北京站的演出!!!
将二十三号在MAO演出!!!
2. We are currently talking to some people who are interested in
shooting a music video for King Ly Chee!!! We really hope this is
all for real...we'll let you know more soon...我们昨天跟一般对我们有兴趣拍MV的人谈谈了...如果这个是真的话那我们更快会通知大家
!!! 当日我们需要我们所有支持者的帮助!!! :-)
BAD NEWS不好的稍息:
1. After 3 years of playing in King Ly Chee - Pong has decided to
quit the band so he can focus on his work and stuff going on in his
life. He has especially stuck with me during a very turbulent part
of my life in 2006 where my true friends were weeded out. I'm going
to miss this dude...but wish him the best of luck.
我们的兄弟Pong决定了不会继续跟我们玩.
他想再努力工作所以以后不会有时间给我们.
我们一定会很想他(我永远不会忘记在我人生特幸苦的时候他没有放弃我...当时才知道什么是真朋友)可是我们会尊重他这个决定.
那我们有一个很大问题...我们十二月的巡演没有bass手...我们已经开始找几个朋友看看他们会不会帮我们玩这个巡演.
希望可以很快给大家好的稍息.
我们大家不想取消这个巡演 - 可能我自己要弹bass!

With Pong quitting that means
we don't have a bass player for the December China tour! :-( But we
have asked a few people to see if they can help us...(yes, of course
we asked my pal Glenn! :-) But he's traveling to Canada during the
Christmas break with his lovely girlfriend...).

DVD...非常好看也不太贵!
值得买...Yo - have you guys bought the new Hatebreed DVD? It's
frickin' amazing! I watched it yesterday at my house with Brian and
it was awesome...not too pricey and totally worth it!
SEPT 8, 2008: BACK TO THE OLD SITE再用舊的网站...
So as you can see...I decided to put the old site back up...this
site is actually a lot easier for me to update and I can have a lot
more fun by actually posting photos etc directly to this news
page...so I hope you guys don't mind that I put this back up...
Yesterday I was walking with Alison in TST and I bumped into our pal
Rob from the Netherlands! I haven't seen this guy in a LONG time and
it's so funny that we were both wearing Terror t-shirts! hahahaha...such
a small little world...
Okay - back to work today...wonderful...NOT...I hope you all voted
yesterday!!!
ALSO - just got news that we are organizing a show for my favorite
China punk band Recycle in Hong Kong!!! The show will be held on Nov
1 and we'll post up more info soon!!

SEPT 7, 2008: THE LOVESONG...greatest HK band...
Just got home from watching The Lovesong...easily for me, the best
bands in Hong Kong...everything about this band always puts a smile
on my face. From their amazing bass lines, to the great twin-guitar
chemsitry, their new drummer Ding is fitting in pretty well and I
can't wait to hear what stuff he comes up with on brand new songs.
The best part about this band is that each show they give it
150%...by the end of each show you can see that all their members
have soaked through their t-shirts, got scratches on their
arms...basically, you know when watching these guys that they play
music with their whole beings and hearts thrown into it...they don't
care about looking "cool" or playing the "trendy" new style of music
or whatever...this is music they love and give it 150%. They were
simply phenomenal last night as they always are...
I've had an awesome weekend so far!!! Friday afterschool I went with
my colleagues to the South China Athletic Association in Causeway
Bay and became a member! $100 for an entire year to be a member!
After becoming a member we immediately went bowling at the club for
3 hours!!! It was so much fun...then that night we went to eat at an
awesome Indian restaurant in Chung King Mansions, and then after
that we went to Aqua for drinks...great night...
Saturday I hung out with Alison all day walking around...and then,
as mentioned above, I watched The Lovesong at the Fringe
Club...great night...
Today I think we're going biking again but I'm not sure...will let
you know later...
At some point today I think I'm going to put up our old website...so
look out for that...
Later today I'm going to go vote!!! As a Hong Kong citizen, this is
my social responsibility to put in a vote and show the HK/Chinese
government that people in HK cherish this opportunity we have to
choose who leads us in this city. I have many friends who live in
China who would love to have this opportunity and hope to have it
one day. I hope all of you will go place your votes - I'm not going
to tell you who I'm voting for or ask you to vote for a particular
person because this is YOUR vote and you need to think for YOURSELF
which candidate (if any) really represents you and your hopes and
dreams. GO VOTE!!!!
刚才看完了我最爱的香港乐队The Lovesong...我每次看这个乐队真的会觉得自己很开心也很舒服...他们的音乐和表演真的我让我觉得香港乐队真的有希望...我很期待他们的心唱片可是我更期待他们次表演...他们演的时候我真的觉得香港所有音乐人姚来看
- 可以感受他们的音乐很态度...
这个周末真的玩的很开心. 星期五下班之后去了铜锣湾的南华会如会员!!! 他们会员费就是$100/一年!!! 特便宜!
然后我们直接去滚球!!! 玩的差不多三个小时!!! 然后带我同事去尖沙咀吃印度餐...然后去一个很漂亮的酒吧叫Aqua...
星期六我陪了我女朋友Alison然后晚上去了中环享受The Lovesong的演唱...good times!!! :-)
今天我会去投票!!! 我是香港市民, 投票是我责任!!! 我有很多内地的兄弟真的觉得我们应该好好的珍惜这个人权!!!
可是我也认识一点儿香港人对投票没什么感觉
