Everyday we see old men and women (people who BROUGHT us into this world AND who we should be taking CARE of) cleaning the streets of Hong Kong. You can see these old men/women looking through garbage to find anything that they can make some money (for example: they look for Coca-Cola cans). How about all the homeless old people we see? How come they don't have a place to go? How come they have no choice but to work in McDonalds cleaning young people's trash? This song talks about how fragile our grandfathers and grandmothers are. In their old age they are not as strong as before (OBVIOUSLY!) so the fact that they still have to work HARD in their old age is not only UNFAIR but SAD. This song's view is from an old man's eyes who of course has lost hope in his society. He has lost hope because he knows that when he was young he helped society in a positive way - paying taxes, voting, etc...- but now in his old age his energy is weak and so society doesn't want to help him. He thinks he is no use to society anymore so society will not feed and look after him. Even worst, as we stand at the intersections ignoring the suffocating children we choose to ridicule the newest measure of preserving our environment certain brave individuals try to promote, such as an electric-powered taxi/mini-bus or something as alien as recycling cans inside MTR stations. Individuals like these are rare in Hong Kong and their dedication to providing a healthy future for our children should be inspiration to us all. Playing in a band is something both magical and heart-wrenching because by pouring your heart on stage and in front of an audience, is to leave yourself out for criticism. Its hard to accept negative criticism but, you'd better get used to it buddy. Just give it your all and as long as you live by that motto, criticism or any other negative rumors floating around will never come close to touching you. Certain people do nothing more then laze around waiting for people to invite them to perform at shows before they even consider attending one. While others are working night and day to build something special in our beautiful little city it pains us to think about those that are sitting at home while local bands are out busting their ass on some tiny little stage, bar, school or university in front of maybe a handful of people. What if everyone did his or her part? Is it really that difficult to fit attending shows into your schedules? Is it really that hard to even make a gesture to introduce yourself to other members of our music community? Are you that absorbed in "keeping face" that you can't come down and help out a new band? Scarred This is my life that you've scarred. And now honestly can you expect anything else from me? You've scarred a painful past full of painful memories. That sound keeps me up at night. MEANING: A childhood with too little laughter (more like none at all) can leave the deepest wounds. A childhood full of tears of confusion and pain of emotional and physical devastation is something most will spend their entire lives trying to recover from.
