dude…what a long day yesterday…
it started with the usual – being at school doing lots of work. the kids are already on Easter break so on these days we usually are trying to get the classrooms ready with the materials etc…so the whole day was spent doing that…
then after work i had to race over to the peak to do some interviews for Paul’s show…it was kind of cool cause we all just hung out at the EA game center at the peak and played games against each other. i played against Brian of 24 Herbs and we both sucked, then i played against Jackal (drummer of Dear Jane), then i played against Jan (singer of Qiu Hong)…that’s all we really did. it was a bit weird but still fun i guess…the best part was getting Burger King and enjoying that on my way back home…
then when i got home i got to hang out with my beautiful girlfriend for a few hours and then Paul’s assistant called me asking if i was free to record backing vocals to Paul’s song “Let’s Fight”. so i went up to Polar Bear to record backing vocals with the hardpack dudes, jan, 24 herbs…it was a fun night just hanging out and watching all those guys trying to write Chinese lyrics! hahahaha…i got to hang out and watch Youtube while they were all working hard trying to words. then we recorded it and now i’m home at 3am…
going to bed…if you want to hear a little part of this song Let’s Fight – then listen to Inti’s “Zhou Band Si Gan” tonight!!!
yo…a few weeks ago i talked about old hair-metal bands like Poison and Ratt getting back together…yesterday i read White Lion is back together!!! woohoo!!! hahahaha…i want all these hair-metal bands to come to hong kong!!! that would be so great if all these bands came to HK to play a show…imagine that! Motley Crue, Ratt, Skid Row, White Lion! oh my god…i’d be in heaven! hahahaha…
“when they children cry…”
woohoo!!! i love looking at all those posters from our upcoming asian tour!!! it’s nice to see our name up there on those posters with NOFX on it…i still can’t believe that we’re touring with them. it’s so weird to think about it…in ’94 when i saw them on the very first Fat Wreck Chords tour i would NEVER in my life ever imagine that i would be playing in a band that would be OPENING for them…what? that is SO strange…i don’t think i’ve ever even dreamed something like that would happen because it seems so ridiculous. why would a band from Asia and especially from Hong Kong have this type of weird opportunity? somehow it happened for us…we feel super lucky and hope we can make all of you Hong Kong people and Asians proud as we tear across this continent of ours meeting everyone and enjoying the warm Asian spirit!!!
last night we did an interview with two of our favorite people: Inti and Paul…it was an interview for paul’s upcoming “Let’s Fight” concert in may…it’s going to be awesome maN!!! it was so cool to be doing an interview with Paul again…it’s been such a long time that we’ve done something with him! it was also nice to do an interview with G and Man there…
i’ve got the world’s funniest photo to show you…but i’ll tell you the whole story first…
for our tour we all need to take some passport photos to get some work visas for Indonesia. so we’ve all been taking passport photos the past few days. yesterday it was my turn and i went to take photos at the MTR station.
when i walked into the booth there was already one of those “silly” backgrounds on the screen. it was REALLY stupid and i didn’t know who would’ve chosen this background. anyway – i just set my seat so my face was in the right place. then i pressed the green button to start the machine. but i ttook a photo!! HAHAHAHA!!
so that’s my story…now enjoy the photo!
yo yo yo…hey there’s an awesome interview with the singer of Terror up on lambgoat and i was nice enough to give you a link on our forum: http://forum.talkmusic.org/showthread.php?p=27449#post27449
as man mentioned above…donald won the election…of course he was going to…everyone knew he was going to. so it was weird that when they announced that he won over 600 votes out of like 800 total, that the audience (of course the majority of whom are his supporters) were screaming for joy. that was weird because you already knew he was going to win. leong kah kit already knew donald was going to win. the point of this (i think) is to show that HK is ready for democratic elections. to show that HK people are rational people, and can handle democracy here.
so congratulations to donald for winning an election that was not a challenge, was not a competition, and was not democratic. hopefully in 2012 we will be able to see HK’s first REAL democracy in action.
homework sucks…ask G or myself and we’ll tell you how much it sucks having to do this crap. even on weekends. on saturdays i stay home and do homework all day. at least i’m not as retarded as our drummer Man who goes all the way out to his motorcycle lessons in Aberdeen but forgets his license at home! HAHAHAHA! sucka!
anyway – G and I have finished the lyrics to the new song Amina…i haven’t told her yet but i think we need to change the name of this song especially since it doesn’t have to do with Amina anymore…will discuss later…
tomorrow night we’re being interviewed by our lovely friend Inti regarding Paul’s upcoming show…that’s going to be fuN! she is such a great great person…HK needs this person so much and all HK bands have benefited from her love and passion of HK bands…we’re all so lucky to have this person dedicated to our music…
good news…bad news…and depressing movie…
good news first…
at our second Beijing show the organizers have added beijing’s hardcore band Unregenerate Blood!!! we’re so excited to play with Beijing’s own hardcore band!!! this band sounds like a mix of Terror and Hatebreed and the singer is good friends of ours!!! he even came to HK a few weeks ago and i showed him around our lovely city…he kept saying “this is such a cool city”! so we can’t wait to see you guys our brothers!!!
bad news second…
our dear friends and Reflector cannot play the first show in Beijing…our good friend Li Peng (reflector’s guitar player) has some sort of health issues and he can’t play!!! i haven’t seen Li Peng in almost 3 years i think!!! i hope you’re doing okay bro…
the organizer said that they will be looking for 2 other bands to replace reflector…once we find out we’ll let you know.
last night my girlfriend and i watched the new will smith movie “the pursuit of happiness”…this is a great great movie. it’s based on a true story about a man in the 80′s who has his whole world fall apart. he has a son that he needs to take care of, and they kicked out of their house because he didn’t and couldn’t pay his rent. its an unbelievable movie because it’s true…this really happened to a man who was trying to do what’s best for his family…
the reason i liked this movie so much – or had such an impact on me was because this could be happening to so many HK people too. i watched this movie in kwun tong and i left the movie theater looking at all the crammed buildings in Kwun Tong and thinking about all the people living in these buildings who must be living like this family. how there must be people in these buildings who don’t know how they’re going to feed dinner to their children tonight. who don’t know where they can get money from to take their child to see a doctor.
then i thought about how the government spent 7 million dollars on a new park in wan chai that is impossible to get to. it’s a new park that will allow people to bring their pets too. but what i found strange is that – the government will spend this much money on a park, when their are poor poor poor people struggling in areas like Kwun Tong and Sham Shui Po. how are these people getting the help?
i walked out of the movie theater in a very somber mood…i ended up walking home from Hung Hom because i just needed to be by myself to think about life and everything that we’re all going through.
going to watch the new will smith movie tonight! i’m so excited to go see it…
that’s all i’m going to type today…have so much to do.
oi! we have resurrected the old song “Chaos of Thoughts & Actions” for the tour! woohoo!!! i love this song and i’m excited that we’ll be playing this again. we play it a little big different now (of course because the members are different) so i’m excited the way we play it now!
so the tour now has around 7 or so songs that we’ll be playing on this tour…of course we’re not the headline band so we don’t really have to organize that many songs. one of these songs called “Amina” we’ve never played before!!! we’re still writing lyrics for it and getting the song ready. we’ve been working on the ending of this song…it’s quite an epic feeling…it’s still simple and straight to the point like you’ve heard in our new songs. just keeping things simple…Man keeps saying that our style is now “simple-direct-in-your-face with a little bit of decoration here and there”! hahahaha…that’s a good way to describe our songwriting style nowadays…
new article up in China about us!!! check it out by clicking here: http://ent.qq.com/a/20070319/000215.htm special thanks to our good friend Hawk for helping promote us up there in China! can’t wait to get up to Beijing and play next month!! WOOHOO!!!
see you soon!!!
