FEBRUARY 28, 2005

hello all – hope you’ve had a good weekend! i’ve had a pretty cool weekend…it started off watching an awesome movie about Ray Charles 。。一個人怎麼可以有那麼多困難﹗﹗還有別的困難- 可是我想自己去看這部電影才知道…then i spent the freezing cold weekend with my girlfriend walking around this fine town of ours – and guess what i located!!?!?!?!? i guess this will only get you excited if you know what it is – on our recent Southeast Asian tour we ALL fell in love with Malaysian tea (馬來西亞的拉茶。。。非常好喝﹗﹗﹗)called Tea Tarik…and on saturday I found a Malaysian restaurant in Wan Chai that has it!!! AND ITS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! i’m telling you dude – if you’ve never had Tea Tarik before – then you HAVE to try it out…so good…in chinese its called “lai cha” – the pulled type…also – on saturday morning a loyal reader of our website from Canada reminded me about what used to be his favorite about our website – news about HK. he told me that he missed all of this because he lives away from here and could count on our site to get some HK news information…OKAY – to him and to everyone ELSE that misses that type of info on our site here’s my terrible excuse…my excuse is, since i’ve been working in a school and teaching guitar outside of school – i barely have time during the day to watch the news OR to read a newspaper. this is a TERRIBLE excuse because everyone SHOULD find time to find out whats going on. i could read online – but SCMP.com charges you money to view their online newspaper which is SO stupid!!! anyway…i’m really sorry – and there are days where i feel so disconnected with Hong Kong too because i just don’t know whats going on outside my job and my band…okay okay – some big stuff that happened last week – the BIGGEST news is that research was completed by a local university that found out that the ACTUAL cost to the Hong Kong government from smoking is 5 billion Hong Kong dollars a year!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!! that is how much of an impact smoking has on HK!!! this new research was conducted quite thoroughly and will convince the government to be a more active in trying to rid the city of smoking or  AT LEAST start to take tougher actions on trying to deter young kids from getting into smoking. last night – on TV i noticed that there was an anti-smoking campaign going on in Central where some kids were jamming. so this HAS been a BIG deal in HK – they’ve found out that the second hand smoke causes even MORE damage to the non-smoker then they previously assumed. so it sucks for us non-smokers…even just smelling it, causes harmful effects on our bodies. also – there has been talk about the next Chief Executive of Hong Kong – Henry Tsang has been the biggest vote from HK’s elite, then over the weekend Stanley Ho stood by Rita Fan as another possible select to the post of Chief Executive. that’d be cool if HK had a female Chief Executive!!! okay – also – it was revealed yesterday in the newspaper that HK has started its OWN tsunami warning system!!! woohoo!!!what they’re planning is to be able to announce to the public and shut down MTR’s, tunnels, etc. and get people above 15 meters high within 2 hours of the warning! ISN’T THAT CRAZY!!! oh my gosh…they predict that any Tsunami Warning will only give the government up to 2 hours to try to get as many people to safety. they did say that research has proven there’s only a chance of a tsunami hit to HK once every 200 years…but they aren’t going to take any risks…okay – i think that’s enough HK news! i’m so sorry that i haven’t been able to do this recently!!! i will try to correct this as much as i can…

okay…so i fixed my PC as you can read in my message below…but my internet connection is super slow…no clue why – i’ll call the bastards at netvigator and find out what the deal is…anyway – i watched Ray last night with my girlfriend. SO GOOD!!! damn – his life, people who live through the 1950’s-60’s and who are actually around our time – totally blows me away…i don’t know how to explain that – but watching his movie last night and seeing all the stuff that he went through to get to where he is (was) and then realize that he ONLY passed recently…is SO unreal…its such a weird feeling to know that this legendary human being was around while i was alive…its the same thing as when Audrey Hepburn died in the early 90’s while i was in university – i can’t believe i was alive while she was still here…weird – makes you think what legends are around presently that people are going to be talking about years from now (just off the top of my head: Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton…dude – Dimebag Darrell)…

WOOHOO!!! but the annoying part is that i got this phone call the same day that i received my new credit cards, just applied for my new ID card, and got my new EPS card…then – later that night i went home SUPER happy that my wallet was recovered (all the money is gone) to find my PC totally crash on me…you can ask my girlfriend – if i can’t get online to update this website and check the stuff i need to check, i am NOT a pleasant person!!! hahahaha…also – it started off cold this week – then got insanely hot yesterday (ming and i were in t-shirts and shorts yesterday!) and then now its cold again…this weather is crazy…the newspaper yesterday said that the government actually spends up to 6 billion dollars a year because of smoking!!! THATS NUTS!!! okay…i’m SO enjoying being back online!!! woohoo…Bong is recording bass for the song Children tonight!!! so i’m going to go watch Ray with my girlfriend and then go up to the studio to check him out…YEAH for being back online!!!!

ming and alex brought up the idea of not playing old songs starting our next show…i think if you’ve been playing in a band long enough, you’ll understand why we do NOT want to be playing old songs – those songs were written SO LONG ago and definitely do not represent the current state of KLC…lyrically – YES – nothing has changed their…musically – we don’t sound anything like those songs…SUCKS!!! but we know – our shows are not necessarily just for us…most of you need that one outlet to get rid of any negative emotions you’re dealing with within your own lives – i know i’m like that when we play live…its not necessarily just the song, or the topic of the song, but its the jumping around, screaming, dancing, that helps me deal with all the things that are going on in my life…playing shows is therapy to me – and i’m sure for a lot of you, going to shows and being part of the show by dancing, screaming, singing, moshing, etc…helps you relax in your own lives…ANYWAY – we realized that we can’t NOT play old songs – we’ll probably be playing old songs until we’re old and grey (which for a few us is in the next couple years! hahahaha…just kidding…)…
