  • Domestic helper abused

Posted by Riz Hardcore on August 31, 2001

HEY!!! We’re really sorry that we haven’t updated the page in a LONG time!!! Sorry about that…my computer has been fucked up for more then a week and finally I got it together. We have some new pictures which I’ll be adding in the next few days. Some strange things have happened in the past few days in Hong Kong which has surprised us:

#1: Abuse of a Domestic Helper (Gong Yan)

We were so happy to hear that a lady was thrown in jail for 3 years for physically and mentally abusing her domestic helper for more then one year. Some of the abuse we still can’t believe – the most serious abuse was in the following form: The boss asked the domestic helper to undress upon which she stomped all over her fracturing the helper’s ribs and other bones. When I read this newspaper article I was shocked and stunned. What could cause one human to act towards another human in such a degrading and evil manner? How could this lady treat her domestic helper as a bag of flesh and bones for her to punch, kick, swear, yell and torment? We’re sad to think that in our modern world things like this can go on without anybody being able to take care of herself. What is even scarier is that there are around 250,000 thousand helpers from the Philippines, Indonesia, China and other surrounding countries who are in Hong Kong working – how many thousands of them must endure the same humiliating life daily? How many of them are too scared to say anything against their bosses? When the maid in the above story had her bones broken and was admitted to the hospital, the boss came to the hospital to see her. She did not come to the hospital to say “sorry” she came to threaten the maid – she told the maid that if she told anyone about this, the boss was going to kill her family back in Indonesia. Can you believe that? We couldn’t…its a sad world we live in.

    #2 tomorrow…

  • Last night’s show

Posted by Riz Hardcore on August 20, 2001

Last night’s show was amazing…thanks to everybody who came to watch us and Fat Job. We were the first two bands to play and we were a little worried that no one was going to be there. But that wasn’t the case…the bar was full before we even finished SOUNDCHECK!? Cool…Alex talked about certain things that have bothered us in the past few days. His point was regarding those people who are posting negative messages on other music websites around Hong Kong about us and what the other hardcore bands in Hong Kong are doing. Everyone is entitled to their views and we all respect that – but if you are going to make a judgment about something then all we ask is to get your FACTS straight. Make sure you know what happened at a certain show before you say something negative about the show – or better yet, at least GO WATCH the show. None of us really think its a big problem, he just felt it was important to bring the subject up. Anyway…thanks to everyone who came to the show last night for making it such a GREAT show. Remember that hardcore is NOT only bands – everyone who is interested in the culture, music and idea is PART of hardcore as well.

  • Cool show

Posted by Riz Hardcore on August 14, 2001

As you can see from above – we have a really cool show coming up this weekend (Sunday 19/8). We will play with Hyponic and Fat Job in a REALLY SMALL bar in Tsim Sha Tsui called Ant’s Bar. The place is SO small but that is WHY is going to be a great show because this is the kind of show that are appropriate for our style of music (both hardcore and death metal). Please forward the message to friends of yours who care about metal and hardcore music…we would really like to have people who really care about this stuff to come together at this show. Please don’t forward this message to people who don’t care about punk, hardcore or metal – we don’t want them there. If you have time come down…

  • Show in Shenzhen

Posted by Riz Hardcore on August 12, 2001

Last night’s show was incredible…we had so many friends from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing come together to have a great time. They all helped create the environment and atmosphere that is needed to fully understand and comprehend our music, ideals and life. Thanks to them last night will be a show to remember forever…The sad part is we don’t know when we will be able to play in Shenzhen again because we will not have a drummer after August. What I think is a bit strange is that we have a “Drummer Wanted” link on this website. Everyday we get about 40 hits on that link – that means sometimes up to 40 people are checking out our “Drummer Wanted” notice. But out of those 40 only 3 or 4 will contact us. Please, if you have any interest then don’t be afraid to contact us…we don’t bite.

What up everyone…we’re playing a show tonight up in Shenzhen, China so if you’d like to come just check out the address in the poster ABOVE. This is a bit sad because we’ve been playing in Shenzhen quite a few times in the past couple of years…since August is the last month we’ll have a drummer we don’t know when we’ll get a chance to play in China again. Anyway…we hope we find someone who’s interested in playing drums for us soon…

  • Good Clean Fun

Posted by Riz Hardcore on August 8, 2001

As you can read above – we are lucky to have ANOTHER hardcore band come to Hong Kong in November – they are called GOOD CLEAN FUN!!! In the last 2 years a lot of foreigners have found out that Hong Kong has a punk/hardcore scene starting now and they are all interested to come to Hong Kong to learn more! It’s a great feeling to receive e-mails from such famous hardcore bands such as Himsa and Good Clean Fun who want to come to Hong Kong. (Other bands that have come here are 100 Demons, The International Noise Conspiracy and Envy…)

The best part about these bands is that they come to Hong Kong and DON’T EXPECT that we pay for their airplane tickets and hotels! They truly believe in the INDEPENDENT, DIY spirit…thanks to them we will be able to organize a show that will not be expensive and we hope more Hong Kong people will try to come and support the show. More information later…

To check out their music go to their website: They are NOT a metal/hardcore band – they play the original hardcore sound which is fast and positive…check it out.

ONE SAD NOTE: After August Ming will not play with King Ly Chee anymore. He says that he wants to concentrate on his own band Fat Job more. Our last show with Ming is 26/8. We have not found another drummer yet so we don’t know what we can do. If anyone is interested then PLEASE get in touch. Of course, we cannot have a beginner drummer – we would like to find someone who is serious about playing drums but is also interested in wanting to learn more about hardcore…HELP US FIND THIS PERSON!!! PLEASE!
